Mount Vernon R-V Schools Announces New Superintendent

The Mount Vernon R-V Board of Education has selected Mrs. Christina West to serve as the next Superintendent of Schools. The Board made the announcement after a closed-session meeting on Tuesday, April 22. Mrs. West, an alumnus of Mount Vernon Schools, has spent her entire career in the District, serving the past 10 years as the principal at Mount Vernon Elementary School. Previously, Mrs. West was a Title I Reading Teacher and spent 16 years as a Third-Grade Teacher.

Christina earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Southwest Baptist University and subsequently earned a Master's Degree from SBU in 2002.  Mrs. West earned a Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from Southwest Baptist in 2019.

Mrs. West takes on the Superintendent role following the resignation of Scott Cook, who served for 9 years.  Mrs. West will move into the Superintendent position beginning July 1.
