The Mount Vernon R-V Board of Education held a Regular Meeting on Thursday, March 20. Below are some items of information:
The Board recognized Wendy Perriman as the MV-MVP for March. Mrs. Perriman serves as the Lead Custodian at the Elementary School. Below is the text of her nomination:
Wendy Perriman embodies the true spirit of dedication, kindness, and community that makes our school a special place. Not only does she perform her job with exceptional skill, but she goes far beyond her role to build positive connections with students and staff, making her an invaluable member of our school family.
She takes great pride in maintaining the building, ensuring it is always clean, organized, and welcoming. Whether it's staying late after hours or adjusting her schedule to accommodate unexpected tasks, she consistently goes above and beyond to ensure everything is taken care of.
Wendy doesn’t just work tirelessly behind the scenes — she is also actively involved in fostering a positive school culture. She’s been known to take care of live squirrels in the building, ensuring they are safely removed without causing harm. She stepped in to help unload the book fair, even though it wasn’t part of her expected duties at that time, demonstrating her willingness to support others without hesitation. She volunteered to work during Grandparents' Night because she wanted to engage with students, families, and staff.
Wendy is also a huge advocate for student involvement. She regularly works with students to brainstorm ideas for the cafeteria wall, providing them with an opportunity to vote on words and themes that are meaningful to them. Her creativity doesn’t stop there — she decorates the hallways and cafeteria for every season, creating a welcoming environment for the students to enjoy.
Wendy fosters a positive and cohesive atmosphere among the custodial staff, setting a strong example of teamwork and collaboration. She is an advocate for her staff and works alongside them to complete very challenging tasks. Wendy is not just a custodian; she is an essential part of our school’s heart and soul.
Congratulations to Wendy and thank you for making it a great day to be a Mountaineer!

- The rooms will be known as Compass Point and will be a space where students can:
