The Mount Vernon R-V Board of Education held a Special Board Meeting on Monday, March 25 to consider and approve personnel recommendations.
The Board was informed of one resignation.
- Eric Ireland is resigning from his position as a Special Education Teacher at the High School.
- Mr. Ireland joined the District in 2015 and has served as a Special Education Teacher at MVHS the past nine years.
The Board approved the following personnel recommendations:
- Brian Parrish was approved to fill the vacant position of District Office Business Manager.
- Mr. Parrish has served as the Lead Pastor at Covenant Baptist Church in Mount Vernon for the past 11 years moving into that role in November 2013.
- Mr. Parrish has a BA Degree from Southwest Baptist University and a Masters of Divinity Degree from the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
- During his time serving as Pastor/Assistant Pastor for Covenant and other congregations, Mr. Parrish has assumed several Human Resource responsibilities and has also served as the Secretary of the Lawrence County Baptist Association Executive Committee keeping minutes at quarterly and annual meetings.
- This is to replace Steve Wendler who will be retiring at the end of October 2024.
- Kelley Beckner was approved for the position as full-time Activities Director at MVHS.
- Mr. Beckner has taught Middle School Social Studies the past two years after previously teaching in the District for 4 years from 2015 to 2019.
- In between, Mr. Beckner served as a teacher and Head Football Coach at El Dorado Springs.
- Mr. Beckner also served as the Middle School Activities Director this academic year (2023-2024).
- Ryan Worley was approved to fill the vacant High School Physical Education position and Head Boys Basketball Coaching positions.
- Mr. Worley has been the Head Boys Basketball Coach at New Covenant Academy for the past six years.
- Previous to his time at New Covenant, Mr. Worley spent 10 years (2002-2010 & 2017-2018) as an Assistant Basketball Coach at College of the Ozarks and was the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Hollister from 2013-2017.
- Sandy Seitz was approved as a Special Education Paraprofessional at the Early Learning Center.
- Mrs. Seitz rejoins the District after several years at MVHS as the Kitchen Manager.
The next scheduled meeting of the Mount Vernon R-V Board of Education is Tuesday, April 16 at 7 PM in the District Office Board Room.
