At a Special Board Meeting on Tuesday, January 16, the Mount Vernon R-V Board of Education hired a new Director of Students Services.
Dr. Billy Redus was approved by the Board to take over this position beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.
In making the decision to hire Dr. Redus, the Board placed a high value on his 32 years in education and the variety of roles in which he has served. These roles, listed below, have allowed him to develop a unique set of skills the Board believed would be extremely valuable in leading the SPED Department into a year of transition next year as well as the next few years.
In addition to time in the classroom, Dr. Redus has served in the following roles:
- Marionville Special Education Director
- Aurora Junior High Principal
- Crane Special Education Director & Superintendent
- Aurora Federal Programs Director, Process Coordinator, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent
Dr. Redus earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Missouri State University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University.
We are excited to add the leadership experience of Dr. Redus to our administrative team and look forward to welcoming him to the Mount Vernon School District.
